Overview
This compilation presents the first fifty sketches written for the Early New England Families Study Project. The project, under the direction of Alicia Crane Williams, was created to fill the need for accurate and concise published summaries on seventeenth-century New Englanders. It uses Clarence Almon Torrey’s bibliographic index of early New England marriages (and its recent successors) as a guide and focuses on the families of children of Great Migration parents and on individuals who immigrated from 1641 through 1700. Sketches are first published as a database on AmericanAncestors.org.
The book contains sketches for the following surnames:
Allen • Andrews • Arnold • Bulkeley • Capen • Coney • Denison • Dibble • Dudley • Feake • Fones • Foster • Gaylord • Hallett • Hawkredd • Hilton • Hobart • Hudson • Hull • Jackson • Jenney • Johnson • Kimball • Leverett • Lothrop/Lathrop • Lyman • Makepeace • May • Mellowes • Morton • Newgate • Norman • Oliver • Perkins • Phippen • Rossiter • Saltonstall • Shelley • Stansfield • Stileman • Veren • Warner • Winthrop • Woodbury • Woodward
